Endacea, Inc. (RTP, NC), an emerging biopharmaceutical company, is developing a series of proprietary A1 adenosine receptor (AR) antagonists as drug candidates for a number of medical indications, including:  1) inflammation, including sepsis and asthma; and 2) renal impairment, including acute or worsening renal impairment associated with acute or chronic heart failure and cisplatin-induced renal impairment.  In addition, Endacea is developing a sensitive and specific biomarker for sepsis as a companion diagnostic for Endacea's i.v. anti-sepsis drug candidate and for other uses.

Endacea’s lead compound A1 AR antagonist, L-97-1, is a water-soluble, orally bioavailable “best in class” A1 AR antagonist late preclinical drug candidate. Endacea’s patent estate includes issued U.S. patents for compositions of matter for L-97-1and follow-on A1 AR antagonists, as well as methods of use patents, e.g. sepsis, and pending applications for methods of use for renal impairment and for a new endotoxin assay.
